The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), in coordination with the city government of Davao through the Sports Deve-lopment Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO), will hold the Kada-yawan Girls Volleyball Tournament on August 11 to 13 at the University of Mindanao (UM) gym in Matina, Davao City.
In a meeting with coordinators of the Philip-pine Sports Institute (PSI) and partners at a restaurant in Davao City Monday, PSC Commissioner Charles Raymond A. Maxey said players’ welfare need to be prioritized during the tournament.
“Kailangang mabu-sog ang mga bata, hindi sila dapat magutom,” Maxey said when budget for the players’ free snacks and lunch for three days was discussed.
Participants will also be given parade shirts, certificates and transporta-tion subsidy.
The tournament, ac-cording to him, is for ele-mentary public school teams that were deter-mined by the Department of Education (Deped) Davao City Division.
Maxey’s executive assistant Karlo Paolo Pates, for his part, said there are 10 confirmed teams including Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr. Central Elementary School, Matina Central Elementary School, Kabacan Elemen-tary School, V. Corcuera Elementary School, Tam-bobong Elementary School, Jose Bastida Elementary School, Buhangin CES and SPED Center, Sirawan Elementary School, Ta-landag Elementary School and Vicente Hizon Elemen-tary School.
