COTABATO CITY – Two suspected drug pushers wanted for illegal activities here and in nearby province of North Cotabato were killed when they resisted arrest during anti-drug operation Tuesday, police said.
Director Juvenal Azurin of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-Armm) on Wednesday said Sajid Diolanin Mendoza, also known as Ivan Mendoza, was killed during a drug buy bust operation.
Azurin said Mendoza fired at a police poseur buyer after sensing he was dealing with a lawman in drug deal on Mabini Street, Cotabato City Tuesday night.
Seized from the suspect were several sachets of shabu and .45 cal. pistol. He has an arrest warrant for violating RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives).
In nearby Pigcawayan, North Cotabato, a high value target was killed when he traded shots with elements of the local police and Philippine Army in Barangay Poblacion 1, according to Chief Insp. Realan Mamon.
Mamon identified the slain drug peddler as Dresa Endayla, resident of Barangay Matilac.
He said Endayla opened fire on approaching lawmen when told that he has a warrant of arrest.
Seized from him were huge sachets of shabu, drug money and .38 caliber revolver.
Police authorities believed that Endayla was the one supplying illegal drugs to Pigcawayan and nearby towns in North Cotabato’s first district. EOF/PNA
