The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives arres-ted three soldiers and two members of the Special Civilian Active Auxiliary during the buy-bust ope-ration against illegal drugs on Saturday in Purok Tali-say Seminary Drive Tagum City Davao del Norte.
Noli Dimaandal, spokesperson of PDEA 11, identified the arrested persons as Cpl. Cristituto Gabino Macagubang Jr. alias Mac-Mac, Sgt. Alvin Aleria Binondo alias Vin, Cpl. John Louie Segovia alias Louie, SCAA Rey Jay Mission and Regie Impas.
The suspects cons-pired in selling one sachet of suspected shabu worth P1,000 to a PDEA agent who acted as poseur buyer.
During the operation, Impas pulled a gun and shoot at the arresting officer which resulted in the exchange of gunfire.
Impas was hit in the face but managed to escape. The operatives chased him and tracked Impas at the nearest hospital in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
Mission also managed to escape and reported to his assigned unit at the Task Force Davao. He surrendered later to the operatives and the Task Force Davao and was endorsed to the PDEA.
Operatives seized four medium sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less five grams with a street value of P75,000; three .45 caliber with live ammunition, the XRM and Bajah Motor-cycle units. The P1,000 buy-bust money was reco-vered.
Dimaandal said the suspects were placed under surveillance for a long time.
It was learned that the soldiers were members of the 3rd Infantry Battalion based in Malagos, Calinan.
1Lt. Marcelo Amora, Civil-Military Office of the 3rd Infantry Batallion, said he is still waiting for the report of the PDEA.
Maj. Ezra Balagtey, Spokesperson of the Eas-tern Mindanao Command, said Eastmincom is still verifying the report but definitely the activities of the arrested soldiers will not be condoned.
Task Force Davao deputy commander Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang said he immediately turned over Mission after learning. Cabangbang said TF imme-diately coordinated with the checkpoints to track down Mission.
That the said SCAA as a consequence he will be discharged from the ser-vice of being SCAA of the Task Force Davao.
Mission will be termi-nated from service, Ca-bangbang said.
