ZAMBOANGA CITY–Government security forces have arrested two suspects in the abduction of the busi-nessman-son of the Zam-boanga del Norte town mayor, a top police official said Saturday.
Chief Supt. Billy Beltran, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director, identified the suspects as Soudi Pondusan Banguih, 36, and Edilberto Sarmao Albino, 61.
Beltran said the sus-pects were arrested at around 6:30 a.m. Thursday in the municipality of Sira-wai, Zamboanga del Norte
He said the suspects were allegedly involved in the abduction of Jelster Ed Quimbo, son of Mayor Eddie Quimbo of Labason, Zamboanga del Norte.
He said the suspects were captured on the video of the closed-circuit televi-sion (CCTV) camera as among the six gunmen who seized the younger Quimbo.
He said the suspects were also positively identi-fied by a witness, Jolito Timanono Rodillos, who was with the victim at the time of the incident.
The younger Quimbo was seized by six gunmen at around 6:45 p.m. on September 6 in downtown Labason, Zamboanga del Norte.
The suspects’ getaway vehicle was found a few minutes later abandoned in Barangay Osukan in the same town.
The younger Quimbo owns a store and manages the family-owned construc-tion business.
Beltran said the two arrested suspects are de-tained pending the filing of appropriate charges against them. TPGJR/PNA
