LEGAZPI CITY (PNA) — Joint operatives of the Labo Municipal Police Station, Regional Intelligence Division 5, Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit 5 and Regional Public Safety Battalion caught three men in the act of illegal mining in Purok 4, Barangay Benit, Labo, Camarines Norte, at about 6:20 a.m. Friday, a police report reaching Camp Gen. Simeon A. Ola here said Sunday.
Led by Senior Insp. Ray Anthony Villanueva, the police arrested suspects Arnel R. Suzano, 28 and resident Barangay Dalas, Labo; Ronnie P. Salen, 28 and resident of Barangay Pinatigasan, Vinzons; and Andy A. Flores, 26 and resident of Barangay Kurbada, Paracale, Camarines Norte.
The law enforcers acted on the tip of residents about the suspects’ small mining activity in the area which is banned by the government.
They seized a submersible pump, blower, spade and other mining tools from the suspects.
The suspects and the pieces of evidence are now in the custody of the Labo MPS.
