The 10th Infantry Division welcomes the safe return of two members of the paramilitary group freed by the New People’s Army (NPA) on Friday in Davao Oriental.
On Friday, CAA Rene Doller, 34 and CAA Carl Mark Nucos, 24, who have been held captive by the NPA’s Pulang Bagani Company (PBC) 6 in Sitio Upper Waywayan, Baramgay Don Mariano, Lupon, Davao Oriental since February 17, were released by the rebels.
Doller and Nucos are currently placed under custody at the Headquarters of the 701st Infantry Brigade in Sitio Magay, Don Martin Marundan, Mati City.
Capt. Rhyan Batchar, spokesperson of the 19th Infantry Batallion recalled that about 30 NPA rebels flagged down and abducted Doller and Nucos who were separately riding motorcycles unarmed following an armed encounter that happened in Purok 2, Brgy New Visayas involving 40 NPA rebels and the 28th Infantry Battalion.
“Doller and Nucos will undergo medical evaluation and the debriefing process. We shall then publish the results of these evaluations as soon as it is completed. As of now, they are given time to recover from the physical, mental and emotional trauma they experienced while at the hands of the NPA rebels,” Batchar said in press release.
“We will provide them and their family with the necessary assistance while they recover from this traumatic experience. We further demand from the NPA the release of their other kidnap victims and desist from using the victims’ hapless situation in advancing their political propaganda,” he said.
