DAREDEVIL Ralph Bayhon of Antipas, Cotabato ruled both the Expert and Intermediate categories to grab the limelight in the exciting 79th Araw ng Dabaw Cyclomax Motocross held at Kauswagan, Barangay Langub, this city.
Bayhon, who rode on his 2014 Kawasaki KX450F, outclassed the early favorites in winning both categories. He won the Expert category by beating Kidapawan’s Coco Dimaano, Loreto’s Jeven Legrada, Davao’s Vice Ben Cristal and Michael Tapic, who finished in that order.
Bayhon also topped the Intermediate category by crushing M’lang’s Terence Napat, Malay-balay’s Rowan James Levett, Legrada and Davao’s top favorite Abu Mata.
Mata, however took the Novice Lites title with his 2014 Kawasaki KX250F.
Mata was followed by Malaybalay’s Jhon Almerino, Digos’ Louie Jay Palma, Bansalan’s Ekis Ampoloquio and Davao’s Budoy Pineda in that order.
Japanese rider Toshiaki Ishiguro of Fukuoka, Japan shared the top honors by winning the Executive category. The 58-year old Ishiguro, who is married to a Dabawenya, only borrowed the motorcycle of Mata but still managed to dominate his class.
Second was Davao custom broker Kim Choi Panaguiton followed by Davao’s Tristan Galanto, Valencia’s IJ Mercado and Aleosan’s Don Derek Louie Cabaya.
Cash prizes, trophies and gift items were awarded to the winners. Seventy-five riders slug it out, through a circuitous, dusty, demanding motocross track designed by race organizer Norben “Bok” Mata of MotoX Davao.
“The race track has now been widened to 1.3 kilometers,” said Mata.
The annual event was powered by Phoenix Premium 98 and Phoenix Cyclomax.
