A paralympic swim-mer from Buda, Marilog, Davao City who earlier won a bronze medal in swimming has added a gold and silver in his medal haul in the ongoing 9th Asean Para Games at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
Paralympic swimmer Ernie Gawilan won the gold in the 400m freestyle event with a time of 4:57.49, beating Vietnam’s Dag Van Cong (5:56.09) and Thailand’s Phiphatphong Sianglam (5:59.94).
Gawilan on Wednes-day also took the silver medal in the 100m butterfly 1:19.86 second to the champion Malaysia’s Tien Yu James Wong.
Before his two medal haul, Gawilan is also part of the Philippine men’s 400-meter freestyle relay team that took third place in the swimming event.
Gawilan, who now lives in Sasa, Davao City is very happy with his wins.
The 28-year-old swim-mer has won two golds and one silver in the Singapore Para Games in 2015.
