Winners in the up-coming 2017 Araw ng Dabaw ‘Mayor Sara and Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte’ Cycling Challenge initially set on March 19 at the vicinity of Barangay Maa, Langub and Magtuod, Talomo District.
Some P50,000 in cash prizes and medals are targeted for the champions, first and second runners-up of the various events, according to PhilCycling Deputy Secretary for Min-danao Salvador ‘Badong’ Paholio Jr..
The City Sports Deve-lopment Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO) under its Officer In Charge Michael D. Apor-tadera has been furnished with a copy of the budget proposal for the competi-tion which is sanctioned by the Integrated Cycling Fe-deration of the Philippines (PhilCycling).
Among the categories are; the road bike, mountain bike for boys and girls (19 under, 15 and 13 years and under) and the BMX competition which is being introduced for the first time. ‘This event is aimed to hone the skills of our local riders as well as to provide a regular avenue for them to continuously compete and gain ample exposure in this sport,’ Paholio said.
“It is also our sincere hope that you will help us again,” the PhilCyling offi-cial also stressed.
