The continuing part-nership of Cebu Pacific and Visit Davao Fun Sale (VDFS) will strengthen the Davao tourism campaign with the arrival of bloggers and digital influencers from Singa-pore, Korea, and Japan to Davao in time for the launching of the sale event this summer.
CebPac, which has been a partner of the tourism sector for VDFS for four years, signed anew a partnership agreement with the Department of Tourism (DoT) on Wednesday at the Water-front Hotel.
Cebu Pacific Cor-porate Communications Director Charo Lagamon told media it is very important for them to bring in bloggers from Singapore, South Korea, and Japan to experience what Davao has to offer and the peripheral areas.
“It’s important for us to tap this top three markets and tourist spenders in this part of the world and it’s only through bringing bloggers and digital influencers that other tourists make that decision to come check out the Philippines. And that is our partnership with the VDFS,” Lagamon said during the signing of the Memorandum of Agree-ment (MOA) of their partnership held at the Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao (WIHD).
VDFS Executive Committee Vice President, Edmund Mayormita said these influencers/bloggers (18 of them) will tour and visit the tourist spots in Davao City, Mati in Davao Oriental, and the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS).
Lagamon said bringing in influencers is the most crucial part of the partnership with VDFS.
“It’s a symbiotic relationship between the local stakeholders, the tour operators, establishments in Davao, we bring in the passengers and the guests and basically we hand them off to VDFS, hotels, resorts, etc so it’s a total experience for visitors and tourists who would like to explore Davao and peripheral areas in southern Mindanao,” she said.
The Singaporean bloggers will arrive on April 20.
“If you are looking at VDFS we are promoting one area in the region. We are going to send six Singaporean bloggers to Davao Oriental as there are a lot of activities that will be going in this weekend that include Frisbee competition, skim boarding. We would like for them to see that this is summer and on a nice beach like Dahican a lot of things can be done,” said DOT regional director Roberto Alabado Jr.
Last year, CebPac has brought in Singaporean influencers who wrote positive write -ups about Davao.
“We have to do our share to promote tourism and bring in influencers and people that will tell other people that it is okay to come to Davao and Mindanao. Check out white water rafting here, Eden, and so many attractions in Mati, Samal, and also Sta. Cruz,” Lagamon said.
Alabado said CebPac not just connect people but is also active in promoting Davao to Singaporeans.
Alabado said bloggers are also reliable influencers that tourists buy their tickets to come to Davao.
“The DOT has always seen the accessibility especially on air is vital to increase tourist arrivals in our region. Cebu Pacific has always been generous in bringing new flights and additional flights to strategic places that we would like to connect like last year it was the Singapore,” he said.
Now on its fourth year, the partnership between CebPac and VDFS takes on advocacy angle in an effort to promote Davao and peripheral areas in Southern Mindanao as safe, enjoyable and exhilarating travel and adventure destinations for both local and foreign tourists.
Launched in 2014, VDFS is a partnership between the local governments in the region, DOT-XI, other national agencies and private enterprises to promote tour packages and unique experiences to tourists such as food and delicacy must tries as well as leisure and wellness activities for Davao City, IGACOS, Sta. Cruz in Davao del Sur and Davao Oriental.
