A 30-year-old Da-vaoeño mixed martial artist has brought honors to Davao City after winning a silver and bronze medal in the recent Japanese National Jiu-Jitsu Cham-pionships in Sumida in Tokyo, Japan.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu artist Jan Hao won the silver medal in the 76 kilogram division after he fell short against Korean Mingyon Kwon.
Representing Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu International in the tournament Hao also won the bronze medals in the open division after he lost to Kwon for the second time.
Hao said he is happy with his win since he only went to Japan for some vacation but he learned that the registration for the tournament has been extended he decided to join.
Earlier, Hao, a purple belt holder also won the 76kg category gold medal in the Korea Seoul Inter-national Championships on top of a silver finish in no gi competition and a bronze in open category.
