The Davao Del Norte Provincial Police Office has intensified its campaign against against “guerilla-type” illegal gambling operations in the province, Police Supt. Julius Borja, deputy provincial director for operations said.
Speaking at the AFP-PNP press forum, Wednesday at the Royal Mandaya Hotel, Borja said “Guerilla-type of operations ang ginatutukan nato karon diha sa Davao Del Norte.
Borja said the only legal operation is the Small Town Lottery of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
“They have the permit so they are legal,” Borja said.
Based on the documents obtained from the PCSO the holder of the franchise of the Small Town Lottery in the said province is the Beato Gioco Lottery Inc and is considered as the authorized agent corporation based on the certification issued by the PCSO Chairman Jose Jorge Corpuz that was issued last August 7, 2017.
Borja said his office is also conducting an investigation to determine if there are politicians who are behind the illegal operations.
Borja said the police are still validating such information and if proven true protectors will face consequences.
Borja said there were reports that the operators of the guerilla-type gambling in the said province were the former financiers of Last Two. They were displaced upon the start of the operation of the PCSO STL, he said.
