DAVAO CITY (PIA) – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has warned the local chief executives not to fall prey to unscrupulous individuals who are soliciting nominations and nominees to be appointed as Officer-in-Charge Punong Barangay or Barangay Chair.
In an advisory from DILG OIC Catalino Cuy which was shared by DILG Region 11, Cuy said that DILG disclaims any connection with any and all other organizations soliciting nominations for barangay chair posts, local government posts or any other posts.
“We do not sanction nor endorse any and all forms of solicitation regarding appointments to government posts,” the advisory stated.
Cuy urged the LCEs and local government functionaries not to entertain the scammers and ignore messages which may ask to “give money, favors or any other matter in exchange for appointment to government posts.”
The DILG official further urged to report scammers to P/SSupt. Marlon Ganzon, Senior Police Assistant to the SILG, at Camp Crame, Quezon City with phone numbers working 24/7: (02) 722-8116 and through PNP trunkline (02) 723-0401 local 3421 or 3381 or to DILG-11 at McArthur Highway, Matina, Davao City with telephone no. 297-2539.
