Tacurong city (pna) — The Diocesan clergy of Cotabato is mourning the death of a parish priest in a vehicular crash on Sunday night along a national highway here.
Fr. Ben Torreto, dcc, rector of the Notre Dame Archdiocesan seminary, said Fr. Allan Buendicho, dcc, 49, parish priest of St. Joseph parish in lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, died at 2:15 a.m. at St. Louis hospital in Tacurong City.
He was 49 years old.
Fr. Ben Torreto, dcc, rector of the Notre Dame Archdiocesan seminary, said Buendicho, also known as “Fr. Allan,” was driving a motorbike heading to Lambayong when he unintentionally hit a tricycle in front and was hit by another motorbike following him at past 10 p.m. Sunday along the national highway linking Isulan town and Tacurong City.
Fr. Allan and his relatives, identified in the report as King Buendicho who was back-riding with the slain priest, and Kristian Buendicho and Jayson Maldo, who were riding on separate motorbike, came from the wake of a relative in Barangay Bambad, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
His three relatives sustained minor injuries.
Fr. Edwin De Gracia, parish priest of President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat, said Fr. Allan sustained serious head and stomach injuries.
Interment is yet to be announced.
Fr. Allan, a native of Tacurong City, was ordained priest on April 25, 1995. He has served as parish priest in various parishes in the Archdiocese of Cotabato under Orlando Cardinal Quevedo, omi, dd, archbishop of Cotabato.
