Kapuso actor Edgar Allan Guzman brings to life the story of an OFW who became a victim of a sexual assault in the season-ender of top-rating GMA Public Affairs program Tadhana this Saturday (Aug. 12).
A model father and husband, Paolo (Edgar) left his family in the Philippines to try his luck in Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia. It was a decision Paolo made with a heavy heart. It was his mother, Aling Norma, who really pushed him to work abroad so that he could earn more.
Like most OFWs, Paolo has to cope with homesickness and discrimination from other nationalities. He shares the same plight of Filipinos working abroad whose family members back home regularly ask for money.
Yet everything is bound to change for Paolo. He has been in Saudi for just less than a month when he suddenly flies back to the Philippines, injured and bruised.
His family was happy to see him except Nanay Norma. Apparently, Paolo was sexually assaulted by the Bedouins one night. In a country where homosexuality is considered taboo, no one among Paolo’s friends and loved ones knew how to help him.
