The Emilio Ramos National High School (ERNHS) ruled the just concluded 80th Araw ng Davao Get Into Rugby Festival over the weekend at the Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) Matina Campus.
The ERNHS won the championship in the secon-dary boys division after beating Sirawan National High School (SNHS), 3-0 in the rugbyfest organized by the Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) in partnership with the Sports Development Division-City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO).
The ERNHS high schools girls also won the secondary division for girls by beating SNHS 2-1 in their championship game.
Meanwhile the host team Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) won the senior touch title after beating Royal Valley Alumni, 2-1 in the finals.
The visiting Cagayan de Oro Rugby Football Club on its part beat the Davao Durians Development Team, 20-5, to take the men’s rugby 7s title.
The other big winners in the rugbyfest are Sira-wan Beach Elementary School who won the cham-pionship in elementary boys, V.L. Anglionto Sr. Elementary School Alpha (champion elementary boy’s plate), Don Juan Dela Cruz Central Elemen-tary School (champion elementary boys bowl) and Piedad Central Elementary School Bravo (champion elementary girl’s plate).
The winners in the tournament got trophies and medals from SDD-CMO.
The players who played big for the champion teams were also given awards as most valuable players such as Anthony Ronquillo (secondary boys), Angela Jessa Hifume (se-condary girls), Mcky Eiman Peli (elementary boys), Cherlyn Gascon (elementary girls), Elven Flores (seniors touch) and Benton Korne (men’s rugby 7s). Romeo Bra-ceros
