Joint elements of the military and police discovered a cache of explosives in Sitio Lambantong Odi Brgy. Lambingi Banga, South Cotabato, Wednesday morning.
In a report, Capt. Rhyan Batchar, spokesperson of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division, said that in response to citizens’ requests, soldiers and policemen checked on a rumored loot of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The law enforcers then discovered two M79 grenade launchers, two claymore land mines, three IEDs with eight detonating switches. They said these belonged to the New People’s Army.
Col. Roberto Ancan, the Army’s 1002nd Infantry Brigade commander, said that people’s cooperation play a vital role in preempting attacks by lawless elements.
“We assure the people of our relentless efforts to thwart the threat being posed by the NPA rebels to the people of Koronadal,” Ancan said.
