The country’s most prestigious firearms show is marking its silver anniversary by holding its very first show in Davao. The AFAD Defense and Sporting Arms Show (DSAS) is heading to the main trade, commerce and industry hub of Mindanao on May 19 to 22, and will showcase the latest array of firearms, ammunition and shooting paraphernalia at the SMX Convention Center Davao in SM Lanang Premier. It is accepting visitor registration online at www.afad.ph/dsas.
“We wanted to reach thousands of gun enthusiasts around the region and give them comfort by bringing the show to them instead of them going to Manila. With that, we decided to kick start our show in the King City of the South,” said Jethro Dionisio, AFAD president and world shooting champion.
No less than President Rodrigo Duterte will be the guest of honor and speaker for the opening ceremonies of the country’s premier and longest running gun show. Duterte will be accompanied by top PNP officials, led by its chief, PDG Ronald M dela Rosa.
In promoting responsible gun ownership, AFAD and PNP again forged a partnership in conducting the “PNP LTOPF Caravan” to assist applicants for License to Own and Possess Firearms, including Neuro-Psychiatric Test, Drug Test, Directorate for Intelligence Clearance and NBI Clearance all in the comfort of a single air-conditioned venue.
Firearm owners are advised to check the list of requirements for LTOPF application at the Defense & Sporting Arms Show (DSAS) Facebook account. DSAS is organized by the Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers of the Philippines, Inc. (AFAD), whose mission is to uphold responsible gun ownership and to promote the firearms and ammunition industry as well as sport shooting. DSAS will have a three-part show this year, one in Davao and the other two in Manila on July 13–17 and November 16–20.
