Free lunch will be served for the participants of the upcoming 2017 Lumba Bisiklita sa Kada-yawan on August 26, Saturday at the Crocodile Park Compound in Maa, Davao City, organized by the Citywide Cycling Asso-ciation of Davao (CICAD), the Davao City Sports Co-operative Inc. in coordina-tion with the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO), which is the presenter of this affair sanctioned by PhilCycling.
This was bared to the Mirror yesterday by Phil-Cycling Vice President for Mindanao and CICAD President Salvador ‘Jun’ Paholio Jr..
“PhilCycling Board of Director Jojo Tan, who also serves as the coach of the Davao City team, which competes regularly in natio-nal events like the Palarong Pambansa and the Batang Pinoy Games is working on the acquisition of more sponsors to make the event more worthwhile for the participants, most of whom are young kids under 19 years of age and who are not very well-off,” he stressed.
Steeltech ang “Colored Roofing ng Bayan” is the major sponsor of the said event which offers cash prizes for the winners.
P3,000 will be given to the champions in the boys under 19, boys 15 and under, boys 13 and under and girls 19 and under mountain and road bike categories, P2,000 each for the first runners-up and P1,000 each for the second runners-up plus medals.
In addition, the cham-pion for the boys 13 and under BMX class will also pocket P3,000 followed by P2,000 for the first runner-up and P1,000 for the second runner-up with medals.
Meanwhile, for the team event, Paholio re-vealed that the champion will receive a whopping P10,000, the first runner-up P5,000 and the second runner-up P3,000, with trophies.
For the team competi-tion, a team can field a maximum of two riders per category, with the top four riders in each category or division earning correspon-ding points that will then be added to determine the champion, first runner-up, second runner-up and third runner-up respectively.
A champion rider for a category gets five points, the first runner-up three points, the second runner-up two points and the third runner-up one point.
The team with the most number of points accumu-lated will get the team title. In case of a tie between teams, the ultimate winner will be determined by the most number of first place finishes.
This event, which is part of the Davao City Sports Cooperative and CICAD’s thrust of helping develop the sport of cycling here in the regional and grassroots level, will have no registration fee.
