The Institute of International Culinary and Hospitality Entrepreneurship (ICHEF) picked its top 20 semi-finalists for the 8th edition of Junior ICHEF Culinary Challenge (JICC) Pastry Edition.
From a total of 37 aspirants from different private schools, they battled for the top 20 semi-finalists on a culinary competition with the theme “Indulging on Delectable Desserts Featuring Mindanao Flavors”.
The top 20 Junior ICHEF Culinary Challenge 2017 semi-finalists are: Dustin Miguel Luke Bacatan, Guia Marie Batalan, Francine Moyenne Escaro, Aleya Bernadeene Yana, Eric Adrian Acaba, Ethan Cueva, Nobumi Dagatan, Julia Escora, and Airene Matabia of Precious International School of Davao; Joanna Patricia Ramirez and Bless Mercado of Davao Wisdom Academy; Kriz Andrea De Vera, Zujin John Hamamoto, Josh Yuan Paguirigon and Darwin Kent Sarte of Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School; Princess Therese Leron and Jhecson Mark Apis of University of Immaculate Conception; Isabelle Arrieta and Jennifer Balante of Holy Cross of Davao College – Bajada; and Maxine Alyssa Kong of Davao Christian High School.
The semi-finalists will competed on November 11, 2017 for the Semi-Final Round where only ten participants will be chosen to proceed to the final round on December 5, 2017.
JICC is a culinary competition where grades 9 to 12 students from public and private schools will showcase their creative and innovative skills in pastries and desserts. It is part of ICHEF’s advocacy in giving the youth a chance to showcase their culinary talent. It has also become an exciting avenue for enthusiastic high school students where they can set their best foot forward in terms of culinary skills wherein the grand winner of the competition will get the chance to study in IChef.
