An alleged high value target (HVT) for illegal drugs trade was killed in a shootout with drug operatives during the implementation of a search warrant, Tuesday morning in Mati City, Davao Oriental.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 11 Information Officer Noli Dimaandal.
Identified the suspect as Jabay Macabuat, who he said pulled out his .38 caliber pistol when operatives served the search warrant. The incident was followed by a gun fight leading to Macabuat’s death.
Joint operatives from PDEA 11, 28th Infantry Battalion of the AFP, Davao Provincial Police Office and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of Davao Oriental implemented the search warrant past 6 a.m.
The search inside Macabuat’s house resulted to the confiscation of 52 grams of shabu with estimated street value of P624,000, .38 caliber pistol with live ammunitions, shabu paraphernalia and P20,000 cash.
Six drug suspects were arrested during the operation. They are:
Haszmin Maca-rambon, Richard Mag-sanay, Jamael Macabuat, Jay Ponte and Abdul and Jalil Macabuat. Authorities believe the arrested suspects were all relatives of the fatality.
Meanwhile, the minor who was also with the group was endorsed to the Quick Response Team for immediate intervention.
Dimaandal confirmed Macabuat is considered HVT based on the gravity of his illegal drug selling in the province.
“High Value Target gyud na sya kay dugay naman na sya ginamonitor unya involved gyud sya sa selling of illegal drugs,” Dimaandal said.
The suspects are now detained at PDEA-Davao Oriental pending the filing of anti-illegal drug case. Richy Nalagon
