Arellano U rebounded from its straight-set setback to Adamson with a 25-16, 25-15, 25-18 romp over Technological Institute of the Philippines to move closer to the semifinals of the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Confe-rence at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan last night.
The Lady Chiefs overwhelmed the hapless Lady Engineers with their power game, hammering in 44 kills against their rivals’ 19 spikes. They also domi-nated the net with seven blocks and cashed in on the Lady Engineers’ poor re-ception to score nine aces.
More importantly, the reigning NCAA champions improved to 3-1, just behind the Lady Falcons’ 3-0 card in Group B, heading to their final elims match with the UP Lady Maroons on Sep-tember 30 in the season-ending conference of the league organized by Sports Vision.
Earlier, UP chalked up its second straight shut-out win after a five-set defeat to Adamson, crushing St. Benilde side, 25-19, 25-13, 25-19, for joint third with San Beda at 2-1.
Regine Arocha un-leashed a 17-hit game while Andrea Marzan and Jovielyn Prado combined for 24 points as the Lady Chiefs had a virtual work-out against the Lady Engi-neers before taking a long break for their crucial match with the Lady Maroons.
TIP bowed out with a 0-4 slate.
