The newly-appointed regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 11 assured to step-up the government’s campaign against illegal drugs with the support of the public.
PDEA 11 Regional Director Antonio Rivera pointed out that the campaign against illegal drugs is not only a concern of PDEA but it’s also everybody’s responsibility.
“The campaign against illegal drugs is not only the concern of PDEA but also the people,” Rivera said during Wednesday’s AFP-PNP press forum at the Royal Mandaya Hotel.
Rivera admitted PDEA lacks manpower but he assured it can function with the support of the police.
“We will ask support from the PNP because we are a partner in the anti-criminality,” Rivera said.
Rivera was happy to be back in Davao region.
Asked what his directive from the PDEA Director General, Rivera said he was instructed to continue the campaign and run after the high-value targets.
Since October 10, up to November 21, Rivera said PDEA1I has conducted 37 buy-bust operations, arrested 48 persons and seized about P900,000 worth of illegal drugs.
