People’s Champ and Philippine Senator Manny Pacquiao stressed yester-day that he wants his last fight to take place here in the Philippines, so that Pinoy boxing fans can witness it up close and personal.
“Sinisikap ko na magkaroon ng fight dito sa Pilipinas by November. Gusto ko na masaksihan ng Pilipino bago man lang (ako mag-retire sa boxing),” he said. Just the day before, Pacquiao all but confirmed that his up-coming fight with Austra-lian boxer and Olympian Jeff Horn will be held in the United Arab Emirates. “Almost done na yung negotiations sa Dubai. Nagrequest yung taga-Dubai na doon naman magkaroon ng fight. Marami namang Pilipino doon. Yun kasi ang unang na-finalize,” Pacquiao said.
When asked if he had any idea as to Horn’s sup-posed ring prowess, Pac-quiao said, “Matindi daw iyon. Wala pang talo.” Pacquiao said his training for the fight will start imme-diately. As far as his sche-dules with the senate hearings and affairs go, he is simultaneously preparing for the fight with their ses-sions still ongoing, Pacquiao said: “Nag-e-exercise ako hanggang ngayon… That’s just discipline and time management.” The Senate will be on legislative break from March 18 to May 1.
