The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) turned over a check worth P250,000 as the city’s share in PCSO’s small town lottery (STL).
STL, which is one of PCSO’s regular products, is being implemented all over the country through Authorized Agent Corporations (AAC).
“We are turning over a check worth P251,122.92 for Davao City as its share in the STL for September alone,” PCSO Chairman Jose Jorge Corpuz said in a press conference held in the city yesterday.
PCSO STL operations in the city started barely three months ago according to City Administrator Atty. Lawrence Bantiding. However, the income earned from the STL in the city was already big enough for PCSO to give the city’s 3% share in the revenues.
“This will go a long way in providing medical assistance to Dabawenyos,” he said. The city’s share in the STL will be added to the budget of the city specifically in providing financial assistance to patients.
Bantiding however said that while the city is thankful to PCSO for adding to the city’s coffers, it does not mean that the city is encouraging gambling.
