PNP 11 Regional Director Chief Supt. Manuel Gaerlan wants the police officer in Mati who was arrested for involvement in illegal drugs on Saturday be dismissed from service.
PNP 11 Spokesperson Chief Inspector Andrea Dela Cerna in an interview said Spokesperson said Gaerlan was referring to PO1 Kenneth Gervir Casani of the Mati Police Station who was nabbed during a drug buy bust operation in Camansi in Barangay Badas, Mati City on Saturday, January 21. Also nabbed in that operation were Ricky Namoc Masisay and Jomaira Adar Espina, both residents of said barangay.
Dela Cerna relaying Gaerlan’s statement said “We are serious in our fight against illegal drugs and we will continue to clean our ranks. We will show no mercy to those police officers who will be found guilty of pushing, using and recycling of illegal drugs. They have no right to be in the organization, not only will they be dismissed but they will also face criminal charges.”
She said Gaerlan also directed the Mati Police to recall from Casani the government issued firearm, his PNP badge and I.D.
Gaerlan has also instructed the immediate filing of appropriate charges against Casani after his arrest, Dela Cerna said.
Police confiscated from the operation three pieces small plastic containing suspected shabu, marked money and other drug paraphernalia.
Last year two members of the Mati Police were tested positive of illegal drug use. The said police are ranked SPO1 and PO3 who are now facing administrative charges.
