TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte (PIA) – Philippine National Police Chief, General Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa challenged the critics of the government’s war against illegal drugs, especially the church, to help the authorities in the Oplan Tokhang part 2.
“Kung kami gina-bitikos sa Church, sa mga kaparian, akong gina-hagit ang mga pari. Kung kamo dili gusto nga adunay mamatay, kung gusto ninyo bloodless atong gira, tabangi mi ninyo. Ayaw lang mi ninyo sigeha ug criticize pero wala man pud moy gihimo nga maundang ang droga (Since we are being criticized by the Church, the priests, I challenge the priest. If you don’t want killings, if you want this war to be bloodless, then help us. Don’t just criticize us yet you are not doing something to stop the illegal drugs),” stressed General dela Rosa during the opening program of Bulawan Festival on March 4 at the Compostela Valley capitol grounds in Nabunturan town.
General dela Rosa also told the priests, nuns, ministers and imams, “If the church values the life of the people, the more the PNP values the life of other people.”
The PNP Chief also appealed to the public not to regard them as killers because they too value life and human rights. PIA11, Michael Uy
In a PNP report, more than 2,000 drug personalities were killed in the course of anti-illegal drug operations since July 1, 2016.
“But we have a duty to perform; we have a mission to accomplish” he said.
Dela Rosa emphasized that the police agency too lost the lives of their colleagues in the course of illegal drug operations.
The PNP Chief assured the public the Oplan Tokhang 2 will be manned by police with unquestionable integrity.
“Wala dayon mi mi-ambak pag ingon ni Presidente nga balik na ang kapulisan sa kampanya sa illegal drugs. Maniguro ta nga dili ta masingitan sa mga police nga scalawags. (We didn’t immediately jump in when the President announced that the PNP is back in the enforcement of illegal drugs. We want to make sure that we will not be intercepted by police scalawags.”
It can be recalled that President Rodrigo Duterte suspended the PNP’s campaign against illega drugs after the killing of a Korean businessman, who was allegedly involved in the illegal drug operations, inside Camp Crame.
Meanwhile, Dela Rosa added that the public needs to exploit the strong dedication put in by President Rodrigo Duterte in the war against drugs.
“Wala nay lain pang presidente nga ingon ani musugal sa war against drugs busa i-epxloit kanato ni. Magtinabangay kita dili para sa kapulisan, dili lamang para sa inyong sarili kung para sa inyong mga anak ug mga apo (There will be no other presidents that will take this kind of risk on the war against drugs. Let us help each other not for the police force, not only for yourselves but for your children and grandchildren),” he said. PIA11, Michael Uy
