A minor accused of robbing a woman, Monday night was shot dead when he was immediately cornered by responding police patrol along Sandawa Road, Phase 1 in Matina.
Chief Inspector Ronald Lao, station commander of the Talomo Police Station, told Mirror the minor is identified as Jun Cuison, a resident of Tibungco, Davao City.
Police said, Cuison robbed a woman while she was walking along Calachuchi Street, Juna Subdivision in Matina, around 10:30 p.m. that same night.
The police patrol team from the Talomo Police Station responded when they saw three persons suspiciously doing something bad.
“Naga patrol ang atong mga police dihang nakita nila tong tulo ka mga suspek, nga naay ginabuhat nga dili mayo,” Lao said.
When the suspects noticed the police, they fled on board a motorcycle. The police chased them and cornered them along Sandawa Road. One of them, who was later identified as Cuison jumped and attacked a police officer with a knife prompting the latter to shoot him. Cuison’s two other companions escaped.
Cuison was brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center where he was declared dead by the attending physician.
Based on initial investigation, it was learned that Cuison has previous records of theft and robbery at the Talomo Police station.
“Siya tong suspek nato sa robbery sa area sa Juna Subdivision nga ang mga biktima masamaran sa iyang kutsilyo (He was our suspect of that robbery in the area of Juna Subdivision wherein the victim was injured with his knife),” Lao said.
Authorities are conducting a follow up operation to get the two other suspects. Richy Nalagon
