The wait is almost over as Stockbridge American International School (SAIS) topped off the six-level SAIS in Maa indicating near completion of the school building.
SAIS, owned and operated by the JIB Group of Schools chaired by Joji Ilagan Bian, is the first international school in Mindanao.
With interiors to start by January next year, Vice President for Operations Careen Hao-Bian said the school can start summer classes by May. She said the first and the second levels of the building will be occupied next year. The first level called “Purpose Built Structure”, which is a space planned specifically for Pre-K children.
A purpose built structure is designed to develop and support the academic, developmental and emotional needs of each child. The carefully planned and designed building utilizes the natural curiosity each child has about the world through facilitating exploration, experimentation and creativity in their learning environment.
Purpose built structure is physical space that influences the children to learn and considering the environment in ways that are intentional and purposeful helps to foster encounters, encourage communication and relationships; create environments filled with natural light, order and wonder; and invite children to delve deeper, investigate and represent their learning through a range of mediums.
With purpose built structure the environment is inclusive, promotes competence, independent exploration and learning through play. Outdoor and indoor spaces are designed and organized to engage every child in quality experiences in both built and natural environments. Resources, material and equipment are sufficient in number, organized in ways that ensure appropriate and effective implementation of the program and allow for multiple uses.
“The physical spaces created within the school environment impact on what and how the children learn. Encounters between children are designed to encourage communication and lead to positive relationships natural light, space and wonder help build a positive and happy environment for children to learn and play,” Bian said.
SAIS provides children with a solid foundation for lifelong learning to be ready for the responsibilities and expectations of global citizenship. The school also follows an international curriculum that correlates with the Philippine host country curriculum. SAIS offers American and Department of Education (DepEd) recognized diploma to all of their graduates.
To ensure an educational avenue where excellence in academic delivery and alignment with foreign partner schools are achieved, SAIS is supported with an international pool of academic partners from Nacel International School Systems.
