Mayor Sara Duterte and Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte criticized Raissa Robles, a critic of President Rodrigo Duterte, for her opinions against their family.
On her Facebook page, Robles asked if any member of the Duterte family has gone to the evacuation areas where some of the families from Marawi fled to escape the firefight in the area.
“I told you last time I am Mayor of Davao City not of Marawi, Iligan or Cagayan de Oro. Hindi ako epal tulad mo. Nagpadala man ang Davao City LGU ng relief goods sa Iligan wala naman kami obligasyon na ipaalam sa iyo yun,” Sara wrote on Facebook.
Sara said, “Meron kami evacuees but we made sure hosts and relatives accommodate them at walang matutulog sa semento sahig ng gym, we did their masterlist and de-briefing, we made sure DepEd will accommodate the children, di kasi kami chismosa tulad mo kaya di na namin naikwento. Ikaw, ano na nagawa mo maliban sa pag tweet?”
On the other hand Paolo, who also used the social media to respond to Robles’ criticism, said what the Marawi people need at this time is financial, medical, food, sympathy, help and unity and not a politician who will only take advantage of their situation to promote their political ambition.
“Minarapat na po naming hindi na pumunta pa sa mga bakwit at nagpaabot na lamang kami ng aming tulong sa paraan na hindi na po kinakailangan pang ipaalam sa iyo, sa media, at buong mundo (We deemed it proper not to go to the evacuation areas and extend our help without informing you, the media and the whole world),” he said.
Paolo said Davao has already accommodated hundreds of evacuees from Marawi and Lanao del Sur. Support has also been extended to the Marawi evacuees not in the name of the Dutertes but of the people of Davao.
He said they prefer to stay away from the limelight and especially from media and photo coverage unlike other politicians whose every move is documented and photographed. What is important, he added, is that help was sent to these people.
He criticized Robles for having too much time to spend online, but not for visiting the Marawi evacuees. He said Robles keeps on harping and criticizing the Dutertes and asked if she has done anything for the evacuees.
“Kung may nagawa kayo, kung nakatulong, salamat po. Sana po ay bigyan nyo po ang sarili nyo ng kaunting pabor — mag-pray po kayo. At imbis na tira ng tira sa administrasyong Duterte, pumunta rin kayo sa mga bakwit ng Marawi.” Lovely A. Carillo
