ZAMBOANGA CITY — District 1 Rep. Celso Lobregat on Friday vowed to source funds for the over P600 million projects at the government-run Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC).
Of the total, P380 million will be for infrastructures and the remaining P233.5 million for medical equipment.
“I will push for a budget of more than P600 million for Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) infrastructure and equipment in the 2018 General Appropriations Act,” said Lobregat, the vice chair of the House Committee on Appropriations.
Dr. Romeo Ong, ZCMC chief, said the projects are in line with the master development plan of the hospital.
Ong said the projects include the following: Cancer Center; Heart and Lung Center; Brain Center; Trauma Center; Reproductive Health Specialty Center; Nematology Specialty Center; Burn Treatment Specialty Center; and, Bio-Poison and Toxicology Specialty Center.
He said the needed equipment are as follows: Heart and Lung Center, P97 million; Brain Center, P50 million; Trauma Center, P40 million; Reproductive Health Center, P31 million; and, Nematology Center, P15.5 million.
“Although we cannot guarantee that all these will be eventually included in the 2018 General Appropriations Act, we will push and press very hard to include the needed infrastructure and equipment in the budget,” Lobregat said.
Ong thanked Lobregat for the continuous and consistent support given to ZCMC especially in terms of budget appropriations.
“If the over P600 million budget for infrastructure and equipment is approved, this will be the biggest annual budget of ZCMC,” Lobregat added. TPGJR/PNA
