The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) called on the public planning to go to the places of activities of the 33rd Kadayawan sa Davao to bring any valid identification card and follow the security measures to be implemented for the duration of the festivities.
Senior Insp. Maria Teresita Gaspan, DCPO spokesperson, said the bringing of IDs is part of the measures to ensure the safety and security of all spectators.
“This is for purposes of validation, just in case,” Gaspan said, as she reiterated that backpacks, covered canisters, bladed weapons and firearms are prohibited in activity areas.
Gaspan explained that bringing backpack is not allowed as this has been used by some terrorist groups for bombing and other violent activities.
“We will not also establish baggage counters in case they forgot this prohibition because it would add more tasks to the police officers, and we want to focus on the security of the events,” she said.
She said people are requested to submit themselves for inspection, especially those who are wearing caps and shades.
Although there are no reports of threats, Gaspan said city law enforcers assured the people especially the visitors of their safety while they are here.
“Our intensified Oplan Kapkap and Oplan Bakal Sita will be implemented anywhere in the city and the police will conduct patrol 24/7, “ the DCPO spokes-person said. PNA
