The inspired home team Davao Aguilas has failed in its quest to snatch its first win in their second meeting with the Ilocos United in the Philippine Football League at the Davao Del Norte Stadium in Tagum City, Davao del Norte on Sunday.
The Aguilas settled for a goalless draw against the tough Ilocos football squad infront of its massive home crowd.
Playing in front of its fans, the Aguilas started hot with Omar Khan creating problems for the Ilocos defense out wide. The visitors managed to find their footing midway through the match. Angelo Marasigan had some fine shots, even forcing Marko Trkulja to make some stretch saves. Davao managed to get the lion’s share of possession but their chances were few, the closest coming from a Nate Burkey free kick in the 72nd minute. The veteran midfielder whipped a low ball past the wall before Baba Sampana made the last second save.
The Aguilas and Ilocos settled for a 1-1 draw in their initial game in Bantay, Ilocos on the opener of the league.
Davao snagged its fourth point after seven games. Ilocos on the other hand ended its five game losing run to claim its second point, also in seven games.
