DAVAO CITY (PIA) – Trucks weighing 15 tons above will no longer allowed to cross the Talomo Bridge II starting Saturday July 21 to give way to its reconstruction.
Dionisio Abude, chief of the City Transportation and Traffic Management Office told reporters at the I-Speak Forum that while the Talomo Bridge II is undergoing rehabilitation, big trucks weighing 15 tons and above can use the alternate routes like the bypass road Catalunan Pequeno to the diversion road at the Carlos P. Garcia Highway.
He said traffic enforcers will be assigned in intersections going to the bridge to ensure compliance among the truck drivers.
“We will use the policy on overloading which is stipulated in our Local Traffic Code in running after violators,” Abude said.
He said heavy loaded trucks can be identified as ranging from six-wheeler to ten wheeler plus load.
Dionisio said personnel from the CTTMO and the Department of Public Works and Highways will work together to identify and to educate motorists on this concern.
CTTMO has already issued the pertinent advisory regarding this development through the print, radio, television and the social media. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
