The Livelihood Exchange 2015 (LIVEX 2015), a four-country convergence of government and business leaders in the ICT industry featuring eight ICT-related events slated at the SMX Convention Center from August 18-21 officially starts today.
“LIVEX is a private sector initiative which will coincide with the 3rd BIMP-EAGA ICT Infrastructure Cluster Meeting in the city slated on the same dates,” said ICT-Davao Vice President LizabelHolganza, who also serves as LIVEX 2015 events director.
The Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines-East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) is an economic cooperation among the member economies that aims to develop complementarities that will help promote the region as a single market in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Economic Cooperation (AEC).
The Department of Foreign Affairs earlier approved a P2.7 million budget for the hosting of the ICT meeting.
Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is one of the sectors for cooperation and collaboration among the BIMP-EAGA member economies and is a key enabler for socio-economic development and integration in the region.
Mindanao’s ICT sector is set to discuss various issues concerning the ICT industry in the BIMP EAGA.
The BIMP-EAGA Chief Executive Officers (CEO) Forum, which is slated at the SMX Convention Center on August 19, is a primary event during the Livex 2015.
“The BIMP-EAGA CEO Forum will highlight key development trends, potentials and prospects of the sub-regions as well as discuss and address issues and concerns to pursue the goals of economic integration through the development of ICT,” ICT-Davao President Samuel Matunog said.
The ICT industry players will discuss the development initiatives that have been done in the BIMP-EAGA as the region prepares for the Association of South East Asian Nations Economic Community which will be fully implemented this year. Also included are issues on innovation and entrepreneurship as these are the key components in the creation of business startups ecosystem in the region.
