Police is set to file a murder case against the uncle of a six-year-old girl found dead Tuesday afternoon in a vacant lot in Lanang, Barangay Angliongto.
Edgar Joseph Francisco Lucero, 21, was seen in the CCTV footage accompanying his young niece, Lea Bea, on Sunday. The girl went missing since that day until her body was found Tuesday.
“Naay CCTV footage nga nakita nato ug si Edgar Joseph nga uyuan ang kauban sa biktima (We saw a CCTV footage showing the victim with her uncle Edgar Joseph),” Sasa Police Station Commander Chief Inspector Noel Villahermosa said.
Villahermosa said that during a confrontation with the victim’s relatives, Lucero admitted the crime. He claimed he was drunk.
Earlier, a certain Ariosto Ablay Lumayas, 34, construction worker and resident of Malita, Davao Occidental, was tagged in the killing of the girl. Lumayas was arrested at his work place in Damosa hours after the victim was found.
Lumayas was immediately released when he expressed willingness to sign an affidavit that he saw Lucero with the victim.
The girl, a resident of Barangay Ubalde, Agdao, was the daughter of Lucero’s sister, who is currently working in Manila.
Villahermosa said the girl was last seen on May 14, when she was asked by Lucero, to buy coffee. Lucero was on a drinking session that time with Lumayas and another companion.
Villahermosa said they have requested the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) to conduct an autopsy on the girl to determine if she was sexually abused.
Villahermosa said the girl was struck in the head using a hard object that caused her death. Richy Nalagon
