The Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao (WIHD) posted high revenue in the first quarter of the year topping other Waterfront properties in the country.
This was disclosed by Waterfront Hotels and Casinos Group marketing communications manager Pia Xenia de Villa, attributing WIHD’s success to the growing market and an encouraging tourism industry of Davao City.
“Waterfront Davao is fairly competitive. Very good standing and if I am not mistaking we’re actually topping for the first quarter for Davao in terms of revenues for all the properties,” she said.
De Villa said one of the factors is the election of President Rodrigo Duterte, who attracted many visitors to see him in person. She also cited the President’s efforts in bringing diplomats and foreign investors.
She said that it is now the direction of WIHD to be on top of everything among the hotels here in Davao.
“Again being the center of it all with our conducive location, amenities, services, very near to the airport talagang maraming magagawa (there are many things to do) in terms of improvements we’re gonna do a lot of improvements in the property here in Davao,” she said.
De Villa however said there is no timeline yet on the start of the renovation but it is already in the drawing board.
“Though it (hotel) looks old but still well maintained and very homey, hindi rin nalalayo (it is not farfetched) that there’s going to be improvements and that’s in the drawing board already,” she said. She said they are banking on the location, services and amenities in marketing the hotel.
“Here in Davao if you are going to look at the property of the hotel we have a very vast place somehow you don’t really get that feeling na nasa city ka (you’re in the city). I guess it is having a very good service. Our proposition now is we have the best amenities. We’re in a very good location, we have the malls here, beach (Samal). We’re really in the center and that’s how we are trying to market all the properties, actually all of the Waterfront Hotels,” she said.
Apart from WIHD, other Waterfront properties are Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino, Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino, Waterfront Cebu City and Hotel Casino.
