Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) strives to be a leading institution providing quality education in Mindanao. With one of its mission, which is to undertake research that promotes educational innovations and applications of technology in promoting and maintaining good standards of living.
Through its Research and Development Office spearheads its first International Multidisciplinary Research Conference on July 28, 2018, at the JC Leisure & Business Center, Kidapawan City, NorthCotabato. With its first venture in holding the international conference, research enthusiasts were invited to disseminate research results and contribute to new knowledge in the society.
The conference provided a forum for the productive exchange of ideas and sharing of experiences among academicians, researchers and participants, enhanced research capability and engaged faculty and students to cutting-edge research outputs in a wide range of disciplines.
CMC Research Director Dr. Gemma N. Kintanar said, ”This year’s theme “Shaping a Creative Future through Research and Innovation”, pinpointed the significant role of research and innovation towards the future. Numerous problems are featured under investigation on different streams such as research works focused on education, information technology, educational management, Health and Science Studies, business management, Social science studies, qualitative research study and Experimental studies.”
Credible speakers of the said conference were Dr. Maria Angela Zafra and Dr. SaketJeswani.
Dr. Maria Angela Zafra is the co-founder and executive director of Strategia Development Research Institute, Inc, a nonprofit research organization focused on providing policy research, capacity building, and technical assistance in various social and economic development areas. Dr. Zafra has a doctorate in business administration from the Ateneo de Davao University, a masters in management from the University of the Philippines Mindanao and a bachelors in environmental Science from the Ateneo de Manila University. Most recently, she completed a postgraduate certificate in public policy from the University of Waikato in New Zealand as a New Zealand ASEAN Scholar.
Dr. Zafra also has extensive international experience having completed several prestigious fellowships. She has spent time in Boston and Washington DC as a YSEALI Professional Fellow, in Hungary for UNIDO Green Industry training at Central European University and was an Erasmus Mundus Fellow at the Warsaw School of Economics.
As a researcher, her research interests are focused on inclusive business models, entrepreneurship, tourism, policy and the sustainable development goals. She has completed many research projects and wrote numerous case studies for government agencies, international organizations, NGOs, private sector corporations and business schools. She has also co-authored papers that have been presented at distinguished conferences around the world, including the World Resources Forum in Switzerland, the Green Growth Knowledge Platform in Korea and INTED Conference in Spain.

Zafra is also a professor for the graduate programs of the School of Business and Governance at the Ateneo de Davao University. She teaches research methods, quantitative decision-making models and economics.
Dr. Saket Jeswani is working as Associate Professor at OP Jindal University, India. He has a doctorate in Human Resource at Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekan and Technical University, Master in Human Resource and Marketing, and a bachelors in Pharmacy with 14 years of professional experience. He is the coordinator of Research Cell, International Collaborations, Corporate Training and Education.
Jeswani is a lifetime member of professional bodies like National HRD Network and Indian Society of Business Management. Presently, he is editorial board member and reviewer of various national and international Journals of repute. He has an experience of being a Resource Person for various Research Methodology Workshops and Research Conferences. Also, he has published 17 research papers in national and international journals, presented 18 research papers in national and international conferences and attended various FDP’s/workshops. His expertise is in working with Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) and Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS) and hands-on expertise in Structure Equation Modeling. Jeswani has organized various management events, workshops, industrial visits, outbound training programmes and guest lectures for management students. His expertise in teaching HR and general management focuses on subjects like human resource management, compensation management, human resource planning and development, research methodology and marketing research.
Regionally, nationally and internationally, this conference had more opportunities in making a difference as it opened to everyone and thrived on a diversity of approaches and perspectives. Research works shall foster professional excellence in its faculty-members, important in delivering outstanding student education and training.
